Cedartown keeps a busy week playing area teams
The Cedartown Bulldogs remain undefeated at 4-0 heading into another busy week ahead on the ball field against area teams.
Cedartown kicked off the week at home with a 5-3 win over Woodland on Feb. 22, followed by a 12-4 win over Calhoun to end the week before a break, and a busy week ahead.
Jack Haney, Casey Newsome and Miles Minge all picked up RBI’s on the day in the win over Woodland as Dalton Bowman earned the win with the help of Minge and Henley Hays.
The Bulldogs were down three runs in the top of the third before they took control of the game, putting up four runs of their own in the bottom of the third and adding a score in the sixth before shutting down the Wildcats on the plate in the top of the seventh for the win.
Though Cedartown got down again early in the game against Calhoun, the Bulldogs bit back be- fore they took their eight run win over the Jackets on Friday.
Box score information on that game wasn’t immediately available at press time.
The Bulldogs have a busy schedule ahead of them heading into the coming week.
After heading to Rockmart on Monday after press time to play in a rematch against their rival Jackets, Cedartown also faces Model at home on Tuesday, a road trip to Calhoun on Thursday, and a Saturday doubleheader hosting Pepperell for Game 1, and Coosa for Game 2.
The Bulldogs were supposed to take on Haralson County in a non-region contest against a traditional area rival last week on Tuesday, but wet weather forced that game to be called off in what would have been a rematch between the Bulldogs and the Rebels. Cedartown won their first game against Haralson on the season 6-2 at home.
That game has not yet been added back to the schedule.
