RBA discusses the block party support
The Rockmart Business Alliance continues to work on new promotional materials to help inform visitors out of town and local residents alike of all the opportunities they can take to explore and frequent local businesses.
Board members for the organization got a first look at a video slideshow being produced to provide information about Rockmart history and culture, and places that people can enjoy during their visit.
The video will play for visitors in a loop at the Silver Comet Trailhead in downtown Rockmart, but still needs some fin- ishing touches and improvements before being put into use.
While the board is preparing a digital promotional item, they are also hard at work in providing printed materials.
New promotional brochures are being put together as well that will i nclude i nformation about local restaurants to be put up at the Nathan Dean Sports Complex and the Silver Comet Trailhead in the coming months as well.
Board members also went over how t hey should be involved and support t he monthly block parties held in the spring and summer in downtown Rockmart.
Though the effort is headed up by Geri Purdy and businesses lining Marble Street downtown, the Rockmart Business Alliance has never been an official organizer of the event but has provided some resources when needed.
No resolution on whether to be officially involved with the block parties was reached, but they do provide their unofficial support of the efforts along with they City of Rockmart, who helps with layout of the space used on Marble Street and in closing down traffic access.
The first block party of 2017 in Rockmart was scheduled for May 5, but bad weather forced it to be called off. Much of the efforts put into the party will be revived for the June 2 event sponsored by downtown merchants.
