Blalock earns 3rd straight state title for track and field
A Cedartown track and field star heading off to college next year at Kennesaw State capped off his high school career with gold once again in state competition.
On Friday, May 12, Tyler Blalock won his third state championship after he competed at Berry Col- lege in the GHSA Track and Field Events.
He threw in both discus and shot put. His throw measured 58 feet 7.25 inches, shorter than 4.75 inches shorter than his PR, which he won with last year of 59 feet even.
He won first place in shot put for the three years in a row, a big accomplishment for the senior thrower.
“Coach Mike Worthington has worked with Tyler for 4 years straight making him better each year,” Blalock’s mom, Zandra Spears wrote in Saturday morning.
Cedartown High School has been the recipient of the state championship for the last 4 years under Worthington.
Blalock will be going t o Kennesaw State in the fall on a scholarship for track and field.
He is the son of Zandra Spears and Derrick Green and the late John Blalock and the nephew of Jerry Pittman.
