Mrs. Bennett

Mrs. Barbara Sorrells Bennett, age 83 of Rockmart, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017.

Mrs. Bennett was born July 17, 1933 in Paulding County, daughter of the late Jack Atkins and the late Kate Waddell Atkins.

She was a member of the Morning View Baptist Church and retired from the Engineered Fabrics Corporatio­n with over 30 years of service. Mrs. Bennett loved gospel music and enjoyed going to the Golden Age meetings.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, L. B. Sorrells on Oct. 3, 1992 and Bobby Bennett on Feb. 9, 2010; sister, Ernestine Bowman Gray; and two brothers, Cecil Atkins and Euzell Atkins.

Survivors included four sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn and June Sorrells of Rockmart, Denny and Elaine Sorrells of Dallas, Ricky and Jane Sorrells and Darrell and Barbara Sorrells all of Rockmart; two sisters, Linda (Royce) Braselton of Griffin and Hazel York of Hogansvill­e; three brothers, Roger (Bernice) Atkins of Aragon, Jesse (Peggy) Atkins of Stockbridg­e and Bobby (Sybil) Atkins of Yorkville; nine grandchild­ren and nineteen great-grandchild­ren also survived.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bennett were held on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the Morning View Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby McDowell, Rev. Jeff Hulsey and Mr. Johnny Garrett officiatin­g.

Interment services followed in the family lot of the Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery.

The following gentlemen served as pallbearer­s: Glenn Sorrells, Denny Sorrells, Ricky Sorrells, Darrell Sorrells, William Bowman and Matt Garrett.

Honorary escorts were Troy and Anita Clark, Joyce and Randall Atkins, Carolyn Braswell, Bobbie Barnes, Billy Abernathy and ladies of the Morning View Baptist Church Women’s Sunday School Class.

Mr. Reeves

Mr. Ricky Reeves, age 58, of Cedartown, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017 following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Rockmart on Jan. 28, 1959 the son of the late James C. and Margaret Dutton Reeves.

Mr. Reeves lived most of his life in Cedartown, living each day to the fullest. He enjoyed the outdoors through hunting, fishing or simply riding backroads.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother: Steven Reeves and sister Linda Paulette Souder.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa Venable Reeves; children: Misty Reeves, Jennifer Deems and Troy Deems, and grandchild­ren: Logan Patterson, Conner Cruz, Brayden and Braxton Deems; brother, James “Dink” Reeves. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mr. Reeves was held Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Smith and Miller Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Brannon officiatin­g.

Interment followed in the Anderson-Reeves Cemetery in Rockmart.

The following gentlemen served as pallbearer­s: Logan Patterson, Troy Deems, Justin Souder, Jason Souder, Jeffrey Reeves and David McKinzey.

Mrs. Williams

Mrs. Ann Winfrey Williams, age 75 of Hampton Cove, Ala., passed away Monday, May 22, 2017.

Mrs. Williams was born Nov. 23, 1941 in Punta Gorda, Fla., daughter of the late Wendell Winfrey and the late Mildred Spence Winfrey.

She had a master’s degree in guidance and counseling. Mrs. Williams was a school teacher for many years and a guidance counselor.

She was also the owner of Country Cottage in Gurley.

Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by a son, Richard Thomas Williams.

Survivors included her husband, Dr. Tommy Williams of Hampton Cove; son, Michael Lee Williams and daughter, Maggie Jane Williams both of Huntsville, Ala.; brother, Wendell Winfrey and his wife Marsha of Los Angeles; and sister, Susan Smith and her husband Al of Atlanta.

Funeral services for Mrs. Williams were held on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 2 p. m. in the Gurley Cumberland Presbyteri­an Church of Gurley.

Local services were held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Aragon United Methodist Church with Rev. Toy Brindley and Rev. James Hannah officiatin­g. Interment services followed in the family lot of Aragon Cemetery.

The following gentlemen served as pallbearer­s: Joe Boggs, Jim Boggs, John Purser, Ed Brumbelow, Jason Wilder and Sheely Wilder.

Mr. Sanders

Mr. Charles “Ricky” Richard Sanders Jr., age 55, of Buchanan passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017.

Mr. Sanders was born in Rome on Oct. 9, 1961.

Survivors include his mother and step-father, Judy and Joe Goss of Cedartown; father and stepmother, Charles and Deborah Sanders of Buchanan; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Traci and Brian Gilmore, and Kristi and Allen Ivie all of Cedartown; one niece, Katie Gilmore; two nephews, Tripp Ivie and Luke Ivie; and a number of other relatives.

Memorial services were conducted Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 4 p.m. from Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel with Danny Hutcheson officiatin­g.

The eulogy was provided by Barry Lester and offering a prayer was Tripp Ivie.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite charity in Ricky’s memory.

Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel and Crematory of Buchanan was in charge of the arrangemen­ts.
