Celebrity Dance Chal­lenge 5K night race set for July

A new 5K will be held in Cedar­town on July 22 to help raise money for t he Celebrity Dance Chal­lenge com­ing up in Au­gust.

The walk/run will be in the evening, at 7 p.m., and fol­low the Sil­ver Comet Trail be­gin­ning and end­ing at the De­pot on Main Street.

The fes­tiv­i­ties will con­tinue in the park af­ter the race with mu­sic and food.

The event will raise money for Team Tuck ( Amos Tuck and Emily Tum­lin) who will be par­tic­i­pat­ing in the Rome Celebrity Dance Chal­lenge on Aug. 5.

All pro­ceeds for this event along with the Celebrity Dance Chal­lenge will go to the Sex­ual As­sault Cen­ter of North­west Ge­or­gia that serves our own Polk County as well as Floyd, Chat­tooga, Gor­don and Bar­tow County.

The Cen­ter is very glad to have Polk County rep­re­sented in the event this year with Amos Tuck be­ing a con­tes­tant. Tuck is from Cedar­town and grad­u­ated from Cedar­town High School in 2007.

Af­ter at­tend­ing and serv­ing as a re­searcher for the Univer­sity of Ge­or­gia, he moved back to north­west Ge­or­gia in 2012 and cur­rently works as a Nat­u­ral Re­source Con­sul­tant.

Tuck states, “Com­mu­nity ser­vice plays an im­por­tant role in my life. I am proud to be given this op­por­tu­nity to raise funds to as­sist in the fa­cil­i­ta­tion of heal­ing for vic­tims of sex­ual as­sault and their fam­i­lies.”
