Chamber celebrates end of membership drive at Skydive Spaceland
The first portion of the Polk Chamber of Commerce rivalry is concluded, and the results are in. In what Programs Director Mandy Mallicoat described as “a very close” race, Team Britt won the first part of the competition by bringing in more new Chamber of Commerce members than Team Cody.
The exact number of new members brought in by the two teams is currently being kept a secret, and since the rivalry is a multi-part event, the Chamber plans to detail the results of the membership drive after the competition is concluded.
This leg of the competition ended on Thursday with a celebration at Skydive Spaceland where the captain of the losing team was scheduled to be hit in the face with a pie. Unfortunately, team captain Cody Nichols was unable to attend the event due to personal reasons.
Instead, The Chamber of Commerce has rescheduled Mr. Nichols' pie for their next board meeting on June 21st at their Rockmart office, 133 S Marble St.
Pie or not, being able to meet with several members of the chamber of commerce proved to make a worthwhile event. Hot dogs and lemonade were served in honor of the new and old Chamber members, and congregants were free to go skydiving or simply watch.
The Chamber intends to continue the rivalry and host similar events in the future but has not decided on an official date for those happenings. Future events will continue to revolve around recruiting new members, so those who feel they would benefit from Chamber of Commerce assets and those who want to help a specific team win should consider enrolling by speaking to either Britt Madden Jr or Cody Nichols.
Polk County's Commerce Chamber is a not-for-profit organization with the goal of supplying information, resources, and development to local businesses, education, government and industry. New Chamber members benefit by gaining access to a new customer base, various assets and information, marketing tips, and more.
