July Fourth Friday concert coming up at month’s end

-

Stormy weather prevented the last Fourth Friday concert from happening, but organizers are hoping for blue skies and sunshine for the next event.

Coming up on July 28, the concert will feature Bremen-based band Mc Pherson Street. Mc Pherson Street brings an eclectic mix of rock (both classic and new) with a “little bit o’bluegrass” thrown in for fun.

As always, concerts are free and open to anyone. In addition to live music, folks can check out the Throttle Jockies classic car show and grab a bite to eat.

The event starts at 6 p.m. with music kicking off at 7 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets and make themselves at home in the park at the corner of Main and Prior Street. Dogs are welcomed as long as they are leashed. Alcohol is not allowed.

"It's really great to see families come out and make an evening of it," said Aimee Madden, Public Information Officer for the City of Cedartown. "I've seen both some of our senior residents and some of our youngest residents dancing and having a good time."

The concert that was rained out on June 23 has been rescheduled for August 25. "We were lucky to get Khaotik rescheduled for the make-up concert. They are really looking forward to playing for Cedartown and we're glad we could get everyone's schedule to work."

Just like July's concert, the make-up concert will take place at 7 p.m.

The concert series is made possible by community partners. “We would not have these concerts without the support of our local industries and businesses,” Madden explained. “We appreciate those organizations that see the value in offering these fun events for our residents. We’re proud to have GEO Specialty Chemicals as the main sponsor for 2017. We’re also appreciative of Polk Medical Center, The Polk County Standard Journal and WGAA Radio for being partners this year.”
