A pair of 5K road races are coming up in Cedartown and Rockmart next weekend to help local causes and for runners to enjoy, one for the morning hours and one for the evening.

The first ever Celebrity Dance Challenge 5K is still planned for Saturday, July 22 to help raise money for the Celebrity Dance Challenge coming up in August.

So far already around 30 people have signed up for this event. The event will take place in the evening at 7 p.m. on the Silver Comet Trail beginning and ending at the Depot on Main Street for a total of 3.1 miles.

After the race a festival will be held at the park where one can stop by and eat some grub while listening to some Tunes.

The event will help raise money for Team Tuck made up of Amos Tuck and Emily Tumlin, who will be participating in the Rome Celebrity Dance Challenge on Aug. 5.

All proceeds for this event along with the Celebrity Dance Challenge will go to the Sexual Assault Center of Northwest Georgia that serves our own Polk County as well as Floyd, Chattooga, Gordon and Bartow County.

Amos Tuck has been spending his time Practicing weekly with his instructor on their dance which is going to be a disco style routine.

“It’s just a great cause to contribute to,” said Tuck, “A lot of people don’t think of the after effects that come after someone is sexually assaulted and this is a great way to help this people get the help they need.”

Come out and run or walk and join in the fun while support-ing this great cause. Participants can pick up a regi stration f orm at Studio Fit or Cedartown Insurance Agency or contact Gwen Tuck at 770- 630- 1270 or gtuck62@aol.com.
