Rockmmart’s Crossview Community Church to hose Love Loud event for students next week.

- From staff reports

Crossview Community Church is inviting those who need help to put their best foot forward on the first day of school to join in an event they're holding next Friday night in Rockmart.

The church - located at the old Goodyear Elementary School - will be giving out a variety of items and services during their July 28 Love Loud event running from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

Not only will l ocal youth get a chance to get free school supplies according to Regina Moroy, one of the organizers of Love Loud, but will also have a chance to take home a few articles of free clothing and get free haircuts as well.

Moroy said that even older youth who are nearing the end of their school years can take part as well.

"We're inviting everyone from Pre-K through 12th grade, so we even help out the high school students with supplies they need," she said.

Games and a play area for youth will also be part of the night's festivities, and hot dogs and more will be available for the evening meal as well.

Moroy said that in 2016, more than 300 local youth were able to get supplies and more from the Love Loud event.

She said it wouldn't be possible without the help of local volunteers, like stylists from Great Clips providing the haircuts, and sponsors for the annual Homespun 5K event. Those included Dreamweaver Construction, State Farm Insurance agent and Rockmart City Council member Sherman Ross, Hometown Lawn and Pest, Shaw, Johnny's Pizza, Young Living Essential Oils, Floyd Medical Center and Prospect Valley Golf Course.

Signup fees for the Homespun 5K pay for the Love Loud event, and sponsors help cover the costs associated with this weekend's race. Racers who wish to participate can still sign up and take part, Moroy said, and help a child who needs school supplies before heading back to the classroom.

Visit crossviewcc.com for more information about Love Loud, or call the church at 770- 6844070.

Moroy said the event can still use the help of any donations as well.
