Cedartown Commissioner Jordan Hubbard was elected to the Board of Directors for the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) during the association’s annual meeting in Savannah June 25.

Hubbard will serve as President of GMA’s District 1. The district includes cities in the following counties: Dade, Ca- toosa, Whitfield, Fannin, Murray, Gilmer, Walther, Chattooga, Gordon, Pickens, Floyd, Bartow, Polk, Haralson and Paulding.

“Representing t he City of Cedartown is one thing that I am honored to be able to do, but representing District 1 is no doubt an honor for me,” Hubbard said. “I am grateful that the city commission has faith in my ability to serve not only the city but our district at the state level.”

Hubbard said that as District 1 President, he will serve on GMA’s executive board and work to address and resolve any issues that are brought before him by municipal members of the district.

“We are pleased to have Commissioner Hubbard serving in this leadership position,” said GMA Executive Director Lamar Norton. “The district president serves an important role as a representative of the district and as a liaison for GMA within the region.”

Cedartown City Manager Bill Fann echoed similar senti-ments. “The City of Cedartown is blessed to have someone with the integrity and dedication of Commissioner Hubbard representing all of the cities of District 1, I’m sure his input will be of value to all the members.”

Based in Atlanta, GMA is a voluntary, non-profit organiza-tion that provides legislative advocacy, educational, employee benefit and technical assistance services to its 520 member cities.
