Arrests in Rockmart, Aragon follow DTF seizures

Several suspects were taken into custody by the Polk County Drug Task Force through the month as arrests were made in Rockmart in an effort to curb midlevel and street level dealing.

Details on how much drugs were seized were not immediatel­y available according to Drug Task Force Public Informatio­n Off i c er and Cedartown Police Chief Jamie Newsome, who added that the informatio­n would be forthcomin­g.

The arrests brought several investigat­ions to a close, according to the release. It did not state if the various suspects were connected to one another.

According to a release from the task force, the first round of seizures and arrests were made on July 6 when the several officers from local agencies participat­ed in a raid on 479 Clearwater St. in Rockmart.

The release stated that "an amount of Methamphet­amine and narcotic pain pills" was recovered along with "various parapherna­lia."

Robert Glen Oliver, 54, was jailed on violation of Georgia controlled substance act, possession of methamphet­amine, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, possession of drug related objects, and crossing the guard line with drugs. He remains in the Polk County Jail on a $13,000 bond.

Arrested with Oliver was Melisa Jean Harris on charges of violation of Georgia controlled substance act, possession of methamphet­amine, possession of schedule II controlled substance, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, and possession of drug related objects. She also remains in jail on an $11,500 bond as of press time.

Following the first raid and arrests, the task force then went to 481 Clearwater St, Rockmart, and jailed Charles Jefferson Moore, 42, who was held on charges of possession of methamphet­amine and possession of tools for the commission of a crime. He spent 18 days in jail and was released on a $7,500 bond.

Two more arrests followed on July 18, when agents t ook Robert Shawn Formby and Sinjen Rachelle Goss into custody at 106 Formby Trail in Aragon while executing another search warrant. The release stated that agents found methamphet­amine and various parapherna­lia during the search.

Formby, 40, is being held for possession of methamphet­amine, possession of methamphet­amine with intent to distribute, possession of tools for the commission of a crime and first degree forgery for having a counterfei­t bill. His bail had yet to be set by press time.

Goss, 25, is also being held without bail for possession of methamphet­amine, possession of methamphet­amine with intent to distribute, possession of tools for the commission of a crime.

One final arrest came on July 19 to wrap up operations with 716 Fairview Rd, Rockmart being searched by task force agents and Julie Marie Brumbelow being taken into custody. According to the task force release, methamphet­amines and narcotic pain pills and various parapherna­lia were found at the residence.

Brumbelow, 56, is being held on possession of methamphet­amine, possession of methamphet­amine with intent to distribute, possession of a schedule II controlled substance, and possession of tools for the commission of a crime. No bond has yet been set for her charges and she remains in the Polk County Jail as of press time.

The task force received the help of the Rockmart Police Department, Polk County Sheriff’s Department, Polk County Police Department, Cedartown Police Department, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigat­ion during the latest crackdown.
