- From staff reports

Tickets are on sale now and a production crew from a national TV network is coming to Rockmart for a benefit concert being held to honor a local native who died last year in a fight with cancer.

The second annual Robbie Podskoc White Memorial Concert is coming up on Aug. 19 from 6 to 10 p.m. with several local and area musical talents set to take the stage to help raise money for the Polk County chapter of Georgia Cancer Support.

Friends of White, who started the Georgia Cancer Support organization in Milledgeville and then brought it back to her hometown, organized this year's benefit in hopes of helping those suffering from any form of cancer and with financial need get support they need.

Organizers said this year's show starts at 6 p.m. and features the Pea Valley Flyers, SHELTER, Party of 5ive and Whiskey Dixie.

Headliners Whiskey Dixie will be using the benefit concert at the Rockmart Theater next weekend will be taking on the role of a rock group for footage to be used in an upcoming VH1 documentary.

The network's biopic of Rodney Mills, a mastering engineer whose longtime talents have influenced a generation of classic southern rock bands will be using footage during Whiskey Dixie's performance to provide a needed 70s rock band on stage for b- roll in VH1's film.

He was responsible for helping craft the sound of groups like Lynyrd Skynyrd, .38 Special, The Atlanta Rhythm Sec- tion, Journey, the Allman Brother's Band and more. He's also been involved in production since his past experience with more recent acts like the rapper Gucci Mane, Bone Crusher and Soulja Boy.

Mills is slated to join in the festivities during the night to honor White as well.

Tickets for the night are $10, and those who wish to come and go can do so without having to purchase another to reenter, according to local organizers.

They can be purchased at Rockmart Florist, What's New Consignment, Allstate Insurance, Smith-Lockwood, Blades, and Campbell Photography or at the Door while seats last.

With the proceeds from the night's concert, Polk County's chapter of Georgia Cancer Support will give back by providing fuel cards for patients in Polk County who have to leave the area to get treatment, among other items.
