Dugdown Baptist Church for many years; she loved the Lord. She was a homemaker that enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Howard is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa Howard Dempsey and Randy; sisters, Betty Lou Hindman and Jeannette Gray; brother, Jerry Owens and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Howard is preceded in death by her parents, husband, James Harold Howard; sisters, Ruby Nell Gibson and Mary Boyce and brothers, Carl Owens, Bobby Owens and Elmer Owens.

The funeral service for Mrs. Dorothy Howard was held on, Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Hudgins and Rev. Wayne Pike officiatin­g.

Interment followed in the Polk Memory Gardens Cemetery.

The family of Mrs. Dorothy May Owens Howard will receive family and friends on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 from six o’clock in the evening until nine o’clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.

The family has requested that all flowers are to be omitted.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearer­s: Gene Hindman, David Hindman, Jamie Hudgins, Bobby Gravley, Greg Howard and James Blankenshi­p. Honorary pallbearer­s will be Owen Hudgins and Randall Hudgins.

Mrs. Tate

Mrs. Opal E. Tate, age 85, of Cedartown, passed away Saturday evening, Aug. 5, 2017 following an extended illness.

Mrs. Tate was born on April 7, 1932 in Cedartown the daughter of the late Mr. George M. Edwards and the late Mae Belle Venable Edwards.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters and her husband, Samuel Lester Tate Jr.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Tate had worked for Stone and Allred clothing store i n downtown Cedartown for over 20 years.

She was a faithful and active member of the First Baptist Church of Cedartown for many years where she was a member of the Esther Schliestet­t Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Tate is survived by her son, Lester Tate; her daughter, Barbara Tate and her grandchild­ren, Sam Tate and Grace Tate. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Opal Edwards Tate were conducted on Tuesday morning, Aug. 8, 2017 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Benefield and Dr. David Taylor officiatin­g.

Interment followed in the family lot of the Greenwood Cemetery.

The family received friends on Monday evening, Aug. 7, 2017 at the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home.

The following Gentlemen were asked to serve as pallbearer­s: Larry Little, Steve St. Clair, Larry Clark, Shane Clark, Ronnie Jackson and David Edwards. Members of the Ester Schliestet­t Sunday School Class served as honorary pallbearer­s.

Mr. Hammock

Mr. Forrest Hammock, 59, of Cedartown, passed away on Aug. 5, 2017.

He was born on Dec. 20, 1958 to Gordon Hammock and the late Ella Mae Brown.

Mr. Hammock was a lifelong resident of Cedartown, where he was a graduate of the CHS Class of 1977. Mr. Hammock was best known for his dedication and hard work at Tip Top Poultry i n Rockmart from 1989 until his death.

He was preceded in death by his mother, his brother Jessie Hammock and his grandparen­ts the late Mr. and Mrs. Otis Hammock and the late Mr. and Mrs. N. T. Brown.

Mr. Hammock is survived by his daughter, Denise (Robert) HouseDiamo­nd, his granddaugh­ter Dimon House, four brothers: Roy (Donna) Hammock, Norris Hammock, Michael Mathis (Punkin,) Gordon Hammock Jr. and his sister Tia Hammock. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends are also survived.

Two special aunts, Irene Neal ( Bug) and Mattie Ruth Dulaney ( Pee- Wee) are also thanked for their longtime love and connection with Mr. Hammock.

A celebratio­n of life service was held for Mr. Forrest Hammock on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the God Church of Deliveranc­e in Cedartown with Bishop Robert Hutchins officiatin­g.

Internment followed at Polk Memory Garden.

Pallbearer­s were David Brown, Jerry Gibson and Sammy Sewell.

The family of Mr. Forrest wished to acknowledg­e with grateful appreciati­on the many prayers, calls, visits and acts of sympathy during their time of grief.

Wingfield Funeral Home of Cedartown was in charge of the arrangemen­ts for Mr. Forrest Hammock.
