Fo­rum to be in com­mis­sion meet­ing room

On Tues­day night, the Polk County Board of Com­mis­sioner’s meet­ing room at the County Po­lice Depart­ment of­fice just out­side of Cedar­town were set to host can­di­dates from around the county for this year’s po­lit­i­cal fo­rum ahead of the Novem­ber elec­tion.

Mu­nic­i­pal can­di­dates will gather for the 6 p.m. event to give the pub­lic a chance to hear about their opin­ions dur­ing ques­tion and an­swer ses­sions for three dif­fer­ent con­tested races in Aragon, Cedar­town and for a spe­cial elec­tion on the Polk County Board of Ed­u­ca­tion.

The fo­rum will be hosted by the Polk County Cham­ber of Com­merce’s Gov­ern­ment Af­fairs Com­mit­tee.

The fo­rum is open to the pub­lic, and any­one who wishes to gain a bet­ter un­der­stand­ing of the county and school board’s po­ten­tial rep­re­sen­ta­tives are urged to at­tend.

Ques­tions will be sub­mit­ted by the au­di­ence and cho­sen by mod­er­a­tors to be asked of can­di­dates dur­ing the fo­rum.

Can­di­dates will be given 60 sec­onds to an­swer each ques­tion to al­low for as many ques­tions to be asked in the time al­lot­ted for each elec­tion.

The full list of can­di­dates in­clude:

Cedar­town: Jes­sica Pay­ton, Matt Fos­ter, Jor­dan Hub­bard, and Pa­trick McNal­ley.

Rockmart ( in­cum­bents:) Sher­man Ross, Lu­cille Har­ris, and Joe Hen­der­son.

Aragon: Jud­son Fee and Amy Causey. Any ad­di­tional can­di­dates who signed up to be a coun­cil mem­ber dur­ing the re-open­ing of qual­i­fy­ing on Mon­day will also be in­vited as well.

School Board Dis­trict 6: Judy Wig­gins, Chris Cul­ver, and Carolyn Wil­liams.
