Forum to be in commission meeting room

- From staff reports

On Tuesday night, the Polk County Board of Commissioner’s meeting room at the County Police Department office just outside of Cedartown were set to host candidates from around the county for this year’s political forum ahead of the November election.

Municipal candidates will gather for the 6 p.m. event to give the public a chance to hear about their opinions during question and answer sessions for three different contested races in Aragon, Cedartown and for a special election on the Polk County Board of Education.

The forum will be hosted by the Polk County Chamber of Commerce’s Government Affairs Committee.

The forum is open to the public, and anyone who wishes to gain a better understanding of the county and school board’s potential representatives are urged to attend.

Questions will be submitted by the audience and chosen by moderators to be asked of candidates during the forum.

Candidates will be given 60 seconds to answer each question to allow for as many questions to be asked in the time allotted for each election.

The full list of candidates include:

Cedartown: Jessica Payton, Matt Foster, Jordan Hubbard, and Patrick McNalley.

Rockmart ( incumbents:) Sherman Ross, Lucille Harris, and Joe Henderson.

Aragon: Judson Fee and Amy Causey. Any additional candidates who signed up to be a council member during the re-opening of qualifying on Monday will also be invited as well.

School Board District 6: Judy Wiggins, Chris Culver, and Carolyn Williams.
