More than 70 participants with rides of all kinds came out to show their support and help raise money for a Cedartown teen who has a love of cars and motorcycles.

The second annual Jeep and Car Show to benefit Devin Gilham was held this past weekend, and the real winner of the day was Gilham himself, who got a real treat in getting to check out all the big choppers, 4x4s, sports cars and even a few classics for him to judge.

Additionally, Gilham gave a trophy to local police officers who came down to the show including a sign that said “We back the blue.”

He also got the chance to ride on some of his favorite rides such as a Harley Davidson bike and new cherry red Corvette.

The smile on Devin’s face during the event was what made the event so special.

When asked what Gilham enjoyed most about the car show he replies as humble as he is funny.

“I just enjoy everyone coming together and all the support,” said Gilham, “I don’t want to come by as egotistical, but I just enjoy surrounding myself with good people.”

All money from the car show will go to Gilham’s medical expenses, but if you were not able to make it and your heart is set onto helping Gilham get the medical care he needs, one can also visit his Gofundme page and donate.

Due to being diagnosed with Hallermann-Streiff Syndrome since the age of 1, Gilham has gone through more than 30 surgeries and will have to face more surgeries in the future, including an upcoming a Jaw Distraction procedure.

Even with glasses, Gilham is still legally blind, and so gets help from his mom Nickie with daily tasks.

“I can say this car show was a good turn out just because it brought a smile to Devin’s face,” said Nickie Gilham. “As long as Devin is having fun and having a blast then everything is alright.”

If you would like to keep up with Gilham and his daily life and keep updated on how he is doing, check out his Facebook page as well as the Prayers for Devin Gilham page on Facebook in this story online.
