Wolves romp to 20th straight win

Rome scores six touchdowns in the first half alone against Villa Rica.

The Rome Wolves haven’t slowed down on offense all season, and little changed on Friday night in Villa Rica.

Rome tallied six touchdowns in the first half and forced four turnovers in a 45-7 victory against Villa Rica in a Region 7-5A matchup on Friday. It kept the Wolves undefeated for the season and was their 20th consecutiv­e win. Starting quarterbac­k Knox Kadum did it all on offense, recording a passing, rushing and receiving touchdown. He finished with 202 total yards, including a 5-of-5 day through the air. Junior running back Jamious Griffin led the team with 88 rushing yards and a touchdown, while receiver Jevard Williams had two catches for 65 yards.

The Wolves ( 8- 0, 6- 0 7-5A) scored twice in the first quarter on touchdown runs from Griffin and Marquez Kirby. The second quarter featured all three of Kadum’s touchdowns, including a 25-yard touchdown reception from Xavier RobertsDon­aldson to go up 28-0.

Kirby scored on a 19yard touchdown run to put Rome up 42-0 at halftime, and a 46-yard field goal from Emanuel Gonzalez in the third quarter finished Rome’s scoring.

Villa Rica (4-5, 2-5) scored its only points on a Phillip Zachery one-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, which featured a running clock. Rome plays its final road game of the regular season next week when it travels to Dallas to play East Paulding.
