‘Hap and Leonard’ announces latest schedule

- From staff reports

Official times are now available for this week’s closures as production on the third season of “Hap and Leonard” returns to downtown Cedartown to continue filming.

According to a release from Stu Stegall Productions, who is in charge of principal photography for “Hap and Leonard,” the opening day of filming begins this morning at 7 a.m. with intermittent shutdowns of Main Street between East Avenue and East Ware Street until 7 p.m., when the street will fully close.

The same schedule and areas of closure will continue onward through Thursday and Friday as well.

Additionally, film crews will also be filming out in the southwest area of Polk County around Johnson’s Lake Road. Expect that area to be closed off to traffic as well, but no schedule was immediately available for when that will occur.

“Hap and Leonard is a story that takes place in 1989. This will require us to intermittently reserve parking along Main Street,” the news release stated. “Signs will be posted regarding alternative parking for residents and businesses.”

Additionally, downtown businesses will still be open as well, with their schedule not changing at all.

The film permit for Stu Stegall Pro- ductions continues through Nov. 30, but no additional timetable has yet been released by the company.

The anthology series, based on the celebrated book series of the same name by famed author Joe R. Lansdale follows two lifelong best friends, Hap Collins (James Purefoy “The Following,” “Rome”), an East Texas white boy with a weakness for Southern women, and Leonard Pine (Michael K. Williams “The Night Of,” “The Wire,” 12 Years a Slave), a gay, black Vietnam vet with a hot temper.

Tiffany Mack (Wicked Love, “Timeless,” “iZombie”) who stars as Florida Grange, Leonard’s lawyer and the object of Hap’s deep admiration, and Cranston Johnson (“Atlanta,” Find a Way) who plays Detective Hanson, return as series regulars.
