Community Chorus presenting Christmas tribute
Need some holiday tunes to help get the Christmas spirit flowing? The Rockmart Community Chorus invites everyone who needs some cheer to take part in their annual musical tribute to the season. Downtown’s Rockmart Theater will be filled with the sound of some holly, jolly songs during their upcoming performances set for Saturday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. and a matinee on Sunday, Dec. 3 at 2 p.m.
Tickets are on sale now for the performance for $6, which will include the Chorus’ renditions of holiday favorites such as the baritones dreaming of a “White Christmas,” and other selections to help get one in the spirit of the season like “We need a Little Christmas.”
Traditional hymns heard in the weeks leading up to the winter celebration will also include “The First Noel” and “Mary Did You Know,” along with many other favorites.
“You’ll find a happy blend of secular and sacred music in our upcoming concert, prepared and presented in the hope of giving you an enjoyable start to this wonderful Christmas season,” said a release from the Chorus. The group was first formed in 1996 to perform for an Olympics-related event, and has continued on through more than two decades to raise their voices in song with members coming from all across Polk County and several nearby communities, including Rome.
A volunteer organization, it is sponsored and underwritten by the City of Rockmart and the Rockmart Cultural Arts Commission.
