Sproull signs with Emmanuel Christian

- SJ Editor Allie Sproull was joined by her fellow cross country team members for her signing celebration with Emmanuel Christian College.

Senior Allie Sproull is seeing her speedy skills on the race course pay off, and with her signature last week committed herself to a scholarship with a North Georgia College to continue her running career on the next level.

Sproull, daughter of Crystal and Jason, announced in a ceremony with her family and fellow cross country and track teammates and coaches that she will be heading to Emmanuel Christian College come Fall 2018.

Her Nov. 14 commitment capped a big fall for Sproull, who with her teammates placed third in the Class AA girls cross country event to end a big season on the trails.

Now she has even bigger things to look forward to as a member of the Lions’ program in both cross country and track.

“I’m pumped, I’m so excited, I can’t wait to start,” Sproull said.

She began to tear up when asked about her time running at Rockmart — with a spring track and field season still to come — and said no one experience with her teammates in either sport could be considered one she cherished over any other.

“I just really enjoy it,” she said. “It has just been like having another family for me, and I love my coaches and my team.”

Sproull said she looks forward to forming a new family at Emmanuel Christian College, a 130 mile drive from Rockmart in Franklin Springs, northeast of Athens.

“They just made me feel like I wasn’t going to far from home,” Sproull said.
