Crowd comes out for Dixon at opening For Polk event
Colton Dixon provided contemporary Christian and holiday favorites to an audience who were just happy he was in Polk County for the first ever event held by For Polk, a nonprofit group looking to make a difference in the community.
Dixon came out and started off with a medley of Christmas tunes in the benefit concert held over the weekend to raise money for the organization, which along with community- related projects is also the umbrella group for organizations like Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Executive Director Haley Morgan Smith said those who paid the entry fee for the concert were already helping to make a difference.
She promised more events ahead from the group, and called for the community to come together to bring about positive change.
“I’m excited because this is a community effort, and not just one person,” she said.
Even though it was a fundraising effort, For Polk didn’t overlook the fact they could give back too. Free tickets were given to foster families for the Saturday night event as well.
