Darlington edges Mt. Zion on road

The Darlington boys’ basketball team recovered from being down by seven at halftime of Saturday’s Region 6-A/A tilt with Mt. Zion to win 67-63 on the road.

Andrew Land hit five 3-pointers on the way to a team-leading 17 points for the Tigers (9-5, 4-1 6-A/ A). JD Hull added 16 and Barrick Wade scored 10.

Darlington will host Christian Heritage on Tuesday.

Model boys 62, Gordon Central 39

A reschedule­d trip to Calhoun put Model back in the Region 7-AA win column as the Blue Devils defeated Gordon Central 62-39.

Jackson Lively led Model with 19 points while Justin Roberts added 17 and Josh Smith had 14. Model (6-11, 2-6 7-AA) will travel to Coosa on Tuesday.

Pepperell girls 49, Unity Christian 37

Pepperell’s girls stepped out of region play for a contest against Unity Christian and picked up a 49-37 win in Lindale.

Lady Dragon Kaylee Mansell scored 11 in the first period on the way to a game-high 22 points while Josie McGraw and Lakeeya Wiggins each added eight. Alli Hardwell paced Unity with 12 points followed by Maggie Whitehead and Keri Glass with nine each.

Pepperell (4-9) will host fellow Region 7-AA team Dade County on Tuesday.

Model girls 69, Gordon Central 26

Victaria Saxton scored 30 points to lead the Model girls to a 69-26 blowout of Region 7-AA foe Gordon Central on the road.

Moe Welch added 10 for the Lady Blue Devils while Libby Upton had nine. Model ( 13- 3, 7- 0 7-AA) will be back in action Tuesday at Coosa.

Adairsvill­e boys 67,

Armuchee 51

Armuchee’s boys’ team rebounded from being down 44- 16 at the half but couldn’t complete the comeback as the Indians fell to Adairsvill­e 67-51 in Bartow County.

Eli Brock paced Armuchee with 16 points in the non- region contest while Dre’Quan Cook added 13. The Indians (413) will be at Chattooga in a Region 7-AA tilt on Tuesday.

Adairsvill­e girls 39,

Armuchee 37

A hard- f i ghting Armuchee girls’ team came up just short of Adairsvill­e in a non-region 39-37 loss on the road.

BrandyAnn Wacker led the Lady Indians with 21 points.

Armuchee ( 10- 8) returns to Region 7- AA play Tuesday with a visit to Chattooga.
