Cedartown tennis teams are ready to kick off season.

The season will kick off Tuesday in Rome.

Cedartown’s tennis programs are getting off to a quick start this week with their first matches of the season starting on Tuesday after press time.

Both the Bulldog and Lady Bulldog programs are also kicking off the year with a pair of new coaches to lead the program following the departure of former coach Tony Lundy.

The boys team is being headed up by Matt Bentley, who wil be leading 11 boys on the squad to take on singles and doubles play, while Matt Foster is taking over the program for the Lady Bulldogs with 8 girls on the team.

After a quick round of tryouts in the past weeks, the Bulldogs decided on a team made up of Tanner Arnold, Curtis Lee, Ayron Miller, Isaiah Beck, Josh Hurst, Will McLendon, Taylor Kriesler, Jayan Kent, Justin Runyan, Brandon Bentley, Grant Hendrix and Sam Payne.

The Lady Bulldogs will have Guadalupe Escutia, Rosemary Martinez, Raegan Tanner, Katie Puckett. Sydney Tanner, Rachel Helmes, Suzanne Ellis, and Campbell Parham playing single and doubles.

Both teams were set to play the Wolves at the Rome Tennis Center to kick off the new season this week, followed by matches against crosscount­y rival Rockmart next Thursday at home, then followed up hosting Central Carroll on Feb. 20.

Cedartown will get into region play following that through the end of February and into the month of March, wrapping up the regular season with repeat matches against Rockmart and Central by mid-March.
