Live Oak Baptist Church is holding a Pinto Bean Fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 24 from 5 until 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall. The church is raising money for their Operation Christmas Child Shoebox ministry shipping costs. Pintos, lima and navy beans will be served, along with fried potatoes, cornbread, slaw, onion and desserts.

Admission is free for the Ferst Foundation of Polk County’s ( a 501c3 non- profit) 4th Annual Childhood Literacy Fundraiser “An Afternoon with the Authors” is coming up on Sunday, February 25, 2018 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at In the Woods Performanc­e and Event Venue, 2173 Cartersvil­le Hwy, Rockmart, Ga., 30153. The event includes a silent auction of autographe­d books by your favorite authors, and also of delicious cakes. Donations greatly appreciate­d. All proceeds to support Ferst Foundation of Polk County’s mission to provide books to area preschool children, preparing them for reading and learning success.

A Winter Bazaar is coming to the Cherokee Golf and Country Club in Cedartown on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 150 Club Drive from 8 a.m. to noon. Items for sale will include jewelry, baked and canned goods, wardrobe accessorie­s and home decor. Vendor applicatio­ns are being accepted, but a limited number of tables are for rent. The Good Neighbor Center Food Bank in Cedartown is looking for volunteers to help once a week on Monday’s from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and will help with event tasks such as registerin­g recipients, preparing food boxes and stocking shelves. The next West Georgia Spay/Neuter Clinic is coming to the Cedartown-Polk County Humane Society on Wednesday, Feb. 21. Head over to the organizati­on’s office at 608 Adamson Road, Cedartown, on Fridays from 4 to 7 p.m. or Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to fill out an admission and prepay for the surgery. The Sit ’n Stitch crafters group meet each Wednesday except the last Wednesday of the month.
