The organization that utilizes volunteers to be an advocate of a child in juvenile court proceedings, as well as acting as a mentor for our local youth. The Van Wert Elementary School Council will be holding their upcoming meeting this Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018 at 5 p.m. in the school’s office conference room at 370 Atlanta Highway, Rockmart. The meeting is open to the public. Those wanting more information can contact the school at 770-684-6924.
The Polk County Commission will have their upcoming committee meetings this week, starting on Tuesday after press time with a 2:30 p.m. Finance committee meeting, followed by the Ordinance Review committee at 4 p.m. and the Technology committee at 5:30 p.m. On Wednesday, the Bid committee meets at 9:30 a.m., and the Personnel committee meets at 4 p.m. The final meetings of the week will take place on Thursday with the Public Safety meeting at 4 p.m., followed by the Public Works committee at 5:30 p.m. All meetings will be held at the County administration office at 144 West Ave., Cedartown.

The Polk County Board of Education will be back in session on Tuesday, March 6 for their community input and work session, with the regular session to follow on March 12.
