Mr. Bentley

Mr. Edward Lee Bentley, age 84, of Cedartown, passed away on Monday afternoon, Feb. 12, 2018.

He was born on Jan. 20, 1934 in Atlanta, a son of the late Alfred and Christine Gallimore Bentley.

Mr. Bentley was retired from the Skinner Furniture Company having served in sales and management with the company for over 40 years. He was a longtime member of the Shiloh Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Inez Bishop and Louise Williams and a daughter-in-law, Jeannine Marie Stone Bentley.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Carolyn Stubbs Bentley; his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Michelle Bentley; his daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Jeff Wilson; his step sons, Johnny Cheatwood and Randy Cheatwood; his step daughters, Cindy Cain and Kim Hayes; his grandchild­ren, Sondra Dianne Wilson, Ricky Lee Wilson, Tia and Rodney Bunner and Tiffany and Jerod Evans; his great grandchild­ren, Kelsey Ann McDowell, Sabrina Jean Guzman, Antonio Jefferson Guzman, Mariana Elizabeth Arezalo Wilson, Alijah Reager, Katlyn Bunner and Jadon Evans; a number of step grandchild­ren and step great grandchild­ren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Edward Lee Bentley were conducted on Thursday afternoon, Feb. 15, 2018 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Robert Wright, Rev. Jamie Newsome and Mr. James Casey officiatin­g.

Interment followed in the family lot of the Lime Branch Cemetery.

The family received friends on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018 prior to funeral hour at the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home.

The following were asked to serve as pallbearer­s: Clark Roberts, Scott McCray, Jamie Hayes, Joe David Dyer, Tony Guzman and Eric Williams. Honorary Pallbearer­s were: Terry Pike and Scott Bentley.

Mr. Norris

Mr. Scott Emmitt Norris, age 57, of Cedartown, passed away suddenly on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018.

Scott was born on Nov. 30, 1960 in Whorey County, S.C., the son of the late Gerald Russell Norris and the late Jerri Sue Rowell Norris.

He was employed by IBEW Local 1613 as a electricia­n.

Mr. Norris is survived by his son, Russell Norris; step son, Cody Tanner and cousins, Todd Norris, Joey Norris and Thori Brewer.

The funeral service for Mr. Scott Norris was conducted on Wednesday afternoon, February 14, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with Rev. Anthony Trawick officiatin­g.

The family received friends on Tuesday evening, February 13, 2018 at the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home.

Honorary Pallbearer­s will be the following Gentlemen: David Earwood, Chuck Cash and Paul Youngblood.

Scotts wishes were to be cremated, and he will be cremated following the service on Wednesday.

Mrs. Beverly

Mrs. Rebecca Suzanne Lester Beverly, age 63 of Rockmart passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018.

Mrs. Beverly was born Dec. 4, 1954 in Des Moines, Iowa, daughter of the late Curtis Lester and the late Merna Anderson Lester.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from West Georgia College and received her master’s degree from Jacksonvil­le State University. Mrs. Beverly was a retired educator with the Paulding County School District having taught at Poole Elementary School. She was presently a home caregiver for Visiting Angels Home Health Care.

Mrs. Beverly was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Rockmart where she served as a Sunday School Teacher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald “Buddy” Beverly.

Survivors include a daughter, Sonya Ames of Marietta; two sons, Jeremy Mitchell of Dallas and Andrew Mitchell of Temple; three sisters, Mary Sylvester of Dallas, Jenny Szubielak of Calument, Mich. and Margaret Lester of Dallas; two brothers, Clifford Lester of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., and Allan Lester of Naples, Fla.; four grandchild­ren, Alicia, Dillon, Cameron and Brent.

Funeral services for Mrs. Beverly were held on Monday, Feb. 19, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Cliff Stump and Rev. Levi Wyatt officiatin­g.

Interment services followed in the family lot of Pineridge Memorial Park of Kennesaw.

The family received friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 18, 2018.

Mrs. Astin

Mrs. Earlene Astin, age 85, of Cedartown passed away on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018 after an extended illness.

She was born on Dec. 24, 1932 in Cedartown to the late Mr. Earnest “J.E.” Drummond and Mrs. Hattie Howard Drummond.

Mrs. Astin served the community for 50 years while working at Polk General Hospital as a LPN.

She also worked for Dr. McGehee and Dr. Blanchard during her time as a nurse. She was a dedicated wife and mother who always put her family first.

Her hobbies included spending time in the garden, taking care of her roses, crocheting and was a member of Southside Baptist Church for over 24 years where she loved to sing in the choir.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry Astin; twin brother, Eugene Drummond and brother, Clarence Drummond.

Mrs. Astin is survived by her children, Danny and wife Kay Astin, Anita and husband Keith Jones and Phil and wife Paula Astin; nine grandchild­ren; ten great grandchild­ren; brother, Earl Drummond; sisters, Elizabeth Brantley and Evelyn Brown. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mrs. Earlene Astin was held Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Smith and Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Doyle Kelley officiatin­g.

Interment followed in Oakgrove Cemetery with Rev. Chris Hearne officiatin­g.

Pallbearer­s included her grandsons: Eric Astin, Alan Astin, Jeremy Jones, Deric Jones, Zach Jones, Cory Jones and Jonathan Astin.

The family received friends Monday evening, Feb. 12, 2018 at Smith and Miller Funeral Home.

Mr. Argo

Mr. Thomas Keith Argo, age 61, of Rockmart passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018.

Mr. Argo was born Aug. 10, 1956 in Rome, son of the late Rev. Thomas Jackson Argo and the late Christine Hobbs Argo.

He was a graduate of Rockmart High School and went on to receive his Bachelor of Science degree from Shorter College. Mr. Argo was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include his son, Brad Argo of Adairsvill­e; brother, Charles Argo of Rockmart; and a granddaugh­ter, Kaylee Gilmore.

Funeral services for Mr. Argo were held on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Rev. John Hooper officiatin­g and military honors provided by the Brown-Wright American Legion Post 12 Honor Guard.

Interment was held on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018 in the Georgia National Cemetery of Canton.

Mr. Umlor

Mr. Dylan Paul Umlor, age 25, of Dearborn, Mich., passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018 suddenly in an Atlanta hospital.

He was born in Dallas, Texas, on June 1, 1992 son to Paul Umlor and Melissia Brazier Umlor.

Mr. Umlor was always the giving type, even after his death he will keep giving. He will be giving the hope of life to many through organ donation.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathe­r, L.A. Brazier Jr.

Survivors include his children: Cash, Carter and Cayden Umlor; mother, Melissia Brazier Umlor; father, Paul Umlor; brother, Sean Umlor; sister, Kristin Umlor; grandmothe­rs, Sandra Brazier, Victoria Umlor and Carol Umlor; aunts and uncles, Barbara and Kirk Owens, Scott Brazier, Cindy Brazier, Tina Heise, Kim and Chad Newsome and Nicole Dunevant. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

In keeping with his wishes, he was cremated. The family will have a private inurnment service at a later date.
