Bulldogs standout heading to ‘UPike’

A lot of accolades have been lauded upon Trevon Wofford during the 2017 season, and for good reason.

The Region 5-AAAA Offensive Player of the Year racked up thousands of yards both throwing and passing during his career at Cedartown High School, and did so this past year under center having learned a whole new offensive scheme.

He’ll in part be repeating that feat again this year as he made his decision official late last week in a ceremony at the high school to change his colors for the University of Pikeville’s Orange and Black.

Wofford, who is graduating this spring, said that he’ll be playing under center for the Bears now that he’s officially signed his intent to accept their offer.

“I really like the program they had to offer,” he said of his choice of the Kentucky school. “I’m just glad to have the opportunity to play at the next level.”

He said that he was unsure of what exactly he planned to study over the next four years, but he was sure that it would have something to do with medicine.

“It means a lot to me to be able to continue to do something that I love to do,” Wofford said.

Wofford was joined for the ceremony in the school’s library on Feb. 16 by his family, with “all five of his moms,” but especially his mother Kimberly Poole sitting by his side, and teammates and coaches looking as the Bulldogs send a second player off to school following a big season for Cedartown’s football program.
