Registration deadlines ahead for combined league softball signups

- From staff reports

There’s still time to signup and take part in recreation softball this year for children aged 5 to 14 in Cedartown as they get ready for a big first this season.

The deadline to get into the recreation department to take part on teams during the upcoming season is Feb. 22, and this year’s program comes with a change for the recreation department as they seek to get more competitive and join forces with a rival.

Rockmart and Cedartown’s softball programs will be merging into one this year, which means the number of teams will likely increase some this year as the departments work together.

Signups to take part in the newly combined programs end on Thursday in Cedartown at the Nathan Dean Gym in the Bert Wood Youth and Athletic Center at 7 p.m.. Signups are usually held for programs on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Registration for each player is $35. Age groups are 5 and 6 year olds, 7 and 8 year olds, 9 and 10 year olds and 11 and 12 year olds and up from there.

Additionally, spring soccer signups end on March 2 for those who want to signup their youth to take part. They’ll also take signups on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays for recreation soccer from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Nathan Dean Gym. Registration cost is $40 per player, and includes a jersey and socks. Boys and girls are invited to play from ages 5 to 13.

Those interested in taking part but want more information can call 770-748-7783, or text 770-8765276.
