Cedarstream soon to break ground

A ceremony to kick off the construction of a new headquarters is now set for March 14.

A much anticipated new project coming the Northside Industrial Park in Cedartown is finally on the starting line for construction.

Cedarstream owners Jamie and Darcy Morris announced last year that they planned to begin construction on a new facility for their printing and graphics business currently on Main Street in downtown Cedartown, and now that plan is coming to fruition.

Local officials will gather with the Morris family next week on March 14 at their Northside Industrial Park site for a groundbreaking ceremony, marking the official start on work for the modern 38,800 square foot headquarters.

A planned $4.5 million investment is coming as a result of the new building project, along with the hiring of additional workers to take on new roles in the business once the move is complete.

The family announced the plan back in August to move to the industrial park, and have been wrapping up the initial phase of the project through the fall and winter months.

Now with clear weather, they’ll get to remove the first shovelful of dirt from the site in an expansion that has been years in the making.

Cedarstream began life as a small printing business in the Morris’ small office in the 400 block of Main Street in the late 1980s. They later moved into their current headquarters at 225 Main St., then bought the old Cedartown Coca-Cola Company building and expanded their operations into part of the building. They later turned another part into the Cedartown Museum of Coca-Cola Memorabilia. They also are landlords for the Polk County Standard Journal offices.

No timeline for construction on the new project wasn’t available at press time, and the event is scheduled based on the forecast.
