Coosa Valley Learning Center offering tutoring services
Coosa Valley Learning Center is looking to expand local education options with a slew of tutoring programs and individualized learning plans. The business has a grand opening scheduled for March 17, and tutors will be available for anyone in Kindergarten through high school looking to learn a little extra.
Whether it be a summer workshop, help from a reading specialist, homework help, a diagnostic assessment, or homeschool parent support, those interested can call the learning center at (404) 465-4593 from 4:15 through 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Saturday hours are 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. Located at 508 N. Main St., Cedartown, the business is only minutes away from the rest of Polk County.
“I am very excited about opening Coosa Valley Learning Center,” owner Jennifer Hall said. “I currently teach 4th grade ELA at Youngs Grove Elementary. I personally have been in education for over 22 years and love teaching.”
Hall brings to tutoring services a wide degree of educational endorsements. She has a masters degree in elementary education, and a specialist degree in curriculum and instruction, along with reading and gifted endorsements.
“I am trained in the Orton Gillingham method of reading instruction which is research based and highly effective in teaching struggling readers and children with dyslexia,” she said. “I believe in offering a nurturing and loving environment for children to learn that is multisensory and fun.”
The business prides itself on hiring highly qualified educators to teach the various subjects offered at Coosa. Reading, math, social studies, science and more are available, and regardless of the subject, the learning center promises to approach education in a multi-sensory manner.
“A multi-sensory learning approach is based on the idea that some students learn best when the material that they are given is presented to them in different ways,” Hall said. “Here at Coosa Valley Learning Center, we use movement and touch along with visual and auditory learning.”
The company highlights the benefits of tutoring as helping children bridge gaps in their learning, overcoming difficulties they’ve had throughout their education, giving children confidence boosts, helping to reduce test and school anxiety, and help showing children that learning is fun.
“I decided to open Coosa Valley Learning Center because I saw a need for tutoring services in our community, so after much prayer and work I opened the center in January,” Hall said. “We provide a free consultation for parents to meet us and find out how we can serve them. We offer tutoring for Kindergarten through high school in reading and math along with homework help in all subjects, study skills, homeschool support, and diagnostic assessments.”
Coosa Valley Tutoring services will also be offering Summer Bridge classes starting in June to help students keep up with what they have learned in a fun environment and to prepare them for the next school year.
“We plan to become a GED testing center in the fall which will allow people in our community to take the GED without having to find a testing center far away,” she said. “We will also be offering help and support to prepare for taking the GED.”
