A fun night of culture is coming to Cedartown as art lovers gather this weekend for an annual gala event.

Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be available as well during this Saturday’s event.

Art will be available for purchase and an art auction benefitting the Cedartown Civic Arts Commission Children’s Enrichment Fund, according to Cedartown Performing Arts Center Executive Director Oscar Guzman. Bids can be made in the silent auction during the night of the event.

Jazz will be performed by Greg Robbins during the evening as well.

Guzman said his hopes is a repeat turnout of the hundreds who took part in last year’s inaugural event to help a worthy cause.

“We are expecting a great turnout again this year. After the event in 2017, people were incredibly excited and began asking when the next one was planned. With such a successful evening and positive feedback, it was decided to make the gala an annual event,” Guzman said.

More than 50 artists participated in 2017, and this year Guzman said that he expects as good a turnout of local talent to show their this year.

This year, Guzman said the community will have a chance to sign up and take part in a painting class for local residents.

“It’s all complimentary, people will get to sit down and create their own art thanks to the help of Craftsy House,” Guzman.

Art will be kept at the end of the night, and people can take part without any additional cost.

Donations are also being sought for artwork to be permanently displayed.
