GHC ends regular season with win

The Georgia Highlands College men’s basketball team closed out the regular season with a 98-73 win over the Tigers of Andrew College.

GHC went on a 13-0 run with 13: 28 to go in the first half to take a 24-14 lead.

The Tigers cut the Chargers’ lead to three, 33-30 with 5:50 to go in the first half.

GHC then took a 43-39 lead into the half, took control of the game midway through the second half and extended their lead to as many as 25 points at the 5- minute mark of the second half.

“We f i nally hit our stride and played a great second half,” said Chargers head coach Phil Gaffney.

The Chargers were led by Sandro Noel with 20 points, AJ Farrar with 17 points, AJ Banton with 15 points, TaJuan Johnson with 14 points, and DeMarcus Addie with 12 points.

The Chargers end the regular season with a 19-9 overall record and a 12-3 GCAA record.

GHC will host Andrew College again Tuesday in the GCAA quarterfinals at 7:30 p.m.

PREP BASEBALL Coosa 6, N. Murray 3

The Coosa baseball team improved its record to 3-4 on the season Saturday with a 6-3 win at home against North Murray. Seth Crowe earned the win for the Eagles, pitching four innings, striking out six, and allowing two hits and one run.

Glenn Nicholson and Caleb Shiflett pitched in relief.

At the plate for the Eagles, Logan Pledger was 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs, Brooks Moore was 2 for 3 with two RBIs, and Jay Hamby was 2 for 4 with a double, three RBIs and one run scored.

PREP GOLF Wolves take 10th

The Rome High boys’ golf team finished 10th out of 18 teams Saturday at the Riverwood-Weber Invitational at Woodmont Country Club in Canton.

There was also a pairs competition.

Freshman Hogan Ingram and sophomore Adam Trammell finished fifth out of 54 pairs.
