Bulldog boys grab region win

- From staff reports

Despite a chilly night, the Cedartown soccer teams took on a tough region foe and came away with mixed results on Doc Ayers Field, and will be right back in region action this week again.

The Cedartown boys took a 5-3 win over Sandy Creek in their region opener to end the week at home. The Bulldogs and Patriots were tied 1-all at halftime, but Cedartown dug in and put up another four goals over Sandy Creek’s two more tacked on and took the win.

Cedartown took a 2-2 tie against East Paulding on the road, the Raiders taking a 2-0 lead through the first half and the Bulldogs storming back with a pair of goals in the second half.

Both of those were scored by Brian Ramos.

The Bulldogs moved to 3-2-1 for the season as they get ready to take on Troup County this Friday at 8 p.m.

The Lady Bulldogs took a loss last week on Feb. 28 on a trip to East Paulding in a 6-0 shutout. A score against Sandy Creek in their region opener wasn’t available at press time, but they were down 5-1 late in the second half.

That put the Cedartown girls team at 0-3-1 on the season, their draw coming at the season’s start in Feburary against Pepperell following 4 overtimes at home.

Both continue through the region this coming week with a trip to LaGrange on March 13, followed by a contest with Central at home on March 20.
