Bulldogs soccer teams sweep Troup County

Cedartown’s soccer programs are in full swing and continue region play this week after both the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs faced only one match for the week against visiting region foe Troup County.

The boys and girls teams both got clean sweeps on the night over the visiting Tigers programs as they get ready for a trip to LaGrange for the only varsity contests on the schedule this week.

Last Friday, the Cedartown boys celebrated senior night and came up with a 7-0 victory over the visiting Tigers, with Brian Ramos scoring five goals on the night to lead the scorebook for the Bulldogs.

Additional­ly Oscar Flores grabbed four assists and Jose Nunez also took two shots on the Troup County goal before the night was through. Cedartown put four goals on the scoreboard in the first half and added three more to finish off the Tigers in the second half.

That put Joey Rice’s Bulldogs team at 4-2-1 on the season heading into this Tuesday’s trip to LaGrange after press time on Tuesday.

The Lady Bulldogs moved to 1-4-1 on the season after they picked up a win over Troup County on Friday as well.

Cedartown’s girls shut out the Lady Tigers in a home match prior to the boys kicking off for the night in a 5-0 win in region play.

Both teams are back on road after press time for the only match of the week for varsity back south to Troup County to face the Grangers program in 5-AAAA play. They’ll be back home next Tuesday, March 20 to face off against Central Carroll.

The j unior varsity teams play this Thursday, hosting Chattooga on Doc Ayers Field for the evening.
