joined by their fellow Lady Bulldog cheer squad, coaches, friends and family for their official signing with the school not too far from home in ceremonies on May 8.

Their now-former head coach Brigitte Tillery said the two talented seniors on her squad that were part of the 2016 State Championship team are off to do bigger and better things at a school she knows well.

“They told me a couple of months ago they were thinking about trying out for JSU, and I was extremely excited because that is my alma mater, and where my daughter has chosen to go,” Tillery said. “So I know I’m going to be spending a lot of time at JSU and will get to see them.”

She added that “I know both of these girls would make that team because they are very dedicated, they’re very talented athletes. And JSU is going to be extremely lucky to have them, and I’ll be there cheering them on.”

A pair of Cedartown High School seniors will be heading off to college with financial help for their athletic acumen, and will be providing cheers for a new team in their upcoming college careers as Lady Gamecocks.

Chloe and Lizzie Lee are heading off to Jacksonville, Alabama, together when they start school in the upcoming fall semester. They were

The two signed their letters together as their families watched, and will remain on the sidelines together when the squad starts to cheer during football Saturdays.

“I knew I wanted to go there,” Lizzie Lee said. “My grandmother, my mom and my aunt went there as well. I wanted to continue that legacy onward.”

The daughter of Yvonne and Shane Lee, the future college freshmen who didn’t mention what she plans to study has already been at work with the Gamecocks cheer squad.

She said college cheering is already challenging her at the next level, citing many differences from what she experienced before as a Lady Bulldog competition cheerleader.

“It’s a lot harder, and there are different skills you have to focus on,” Lizzie Lee said.

She looks forward to being on the sidelines to cheer on the Gamecocks during Football Saturdays at Jacksonville State, along with getting on in her forthcoming studies.

Chloe Lee, the daughter of Leigh and Joey Lee, said that her choice to go to JSU just “clicked.”

“JSU has always felt like home to me, she said. “It is such a small community like here, and everyone is so tight knit.”

She agrees the college squad is much different than what she has experienced in high school, with less focus on competition stunts and practices and more on the work cheerleaders do to support the team on the sideline.

Chloe Lee plans to study to be a nurse practitioner at JSU.
