& New Notes
A clarification is needed from a story published in last week’s edition, June 6, about Floyd EMS wanting a shot at being Polk County’s EMS provider. In that story, we mentioned the county is still owed by individuals who used those services, but did so in a way that sounded weird. So to clarify, when the county ran the EMS service on its own a decade ago, it billed either insurance or patients directly for that service. Some of those individuals have still yet to pay back the county, and it carries that money owed on the books as part of the general fund balance it is due. – Kevin Myrick, Editor
