Fun for all at CPAC summer theater camp

- By Sean Williams swilliams1799@yahoo.com

With only 10 days of rehearsal, Cedartown’s rising actors defeated the evil Cruella Deville in a theater-packing performance of “101 Dalmatians.”

The musical was the result of this year’s Cedartown Performing Arts Center summer camp that got youth up on stage singing, dancing and becoming one with their inner Dalmatian.

The memories the children made during the camp were collected and put into a slideshow at the end of the performance for the audience to see and experience as well.

Whether reading lines, designing sets, or prancing around in costume, the actors enjoyed every minute of the 10 days they spent in camp between July 16 and July 27.

The main cast included Heaven Klemke as Cruella, Benjamin Rooke as Rodger, Emma Kate Owen as Anita, Annabelle King as Perdita, JD Densmore as Pongo, Anna Prince as Nanny, Zack Lester as Jasper, Noah Odgers as Horace, Edelweiss White as a narrator, Hayden O’Weger as a narrator, Arian Klemke as a narrator, Kimber Braren as a narrator, Sadie Bently as Lucky, Zella Harrell as Patch, Lucy Davis as Penny, Macie Duggar as Pepper, Leiton McLendon as Freckles, Addie Chandler as Spotty, Sophia Addison as Sergeant Tibbs, Blake Duggar as Dog Catcher, and Elliot O’Weger as Police Officer.

Those who became one of the 101 and played Dalmatians and other dogs included Kylie Lanza, Zyra Serrano, Ellie Chandler, Quincy Densmore, Becca Densmore, Geneva Rooke, Lukas Owens, Sarah Schabort, Coy Fraiser, Wyatt Lindsey, Emberlee Wilson, Livie McAlister, Gage Morris, Aubrey Allen, Isabella Hartline, Lilliana King, Mary Paige Bentley, Addison Brumbelow, Kendall Morang, Savannah Densmore, and Amber Barber.

The performance was made possible only through the efforts of volunteers and sponsors who contributed to this year’s camp.

“We have eaten, slept, and breathed 101 Dalmatians,” director McCall Pirkle said. “I have so many thank you’s it is not worth listing because I always leave someone out. So many people have made this possible.”
