Lady Bulldogs still in region softball mix

- Staff reports CHS

The Cedartown Lady Bulldogs are still in thr mix in 5-AAAA softball, though their quest to get on a consistent winning streak is still to be determined.

Cedartown sat at 7-7 overall and 3-5 in region play after a weekend double header against Armuchee where the Lady Bulldogs put up a pair of wins over the Lady Indians, 10-2 in game 1 and 6-0 in game 2.

It rounded out a past few weeks that have been up and down for Cedartown, and just what was needed as they get back into a busy week ahead hosting Central on Tuesday after press time, and then traveling to Rockmart today for an afternoon rivalry showdown before a break and three more games to round out the season.

The Lady Bulldogs in past weeks have put up an 11-0 win over Sandy Creek on Aug. 28, a 7-1 loss to Chapel Hill on Aug. 30, a 10-3 win over Cartersville on Sept. 4 and a 3-1 loss to LaGrange to round out last week on Thursday before the pair of wins this past Saturday.

Up ahead after play this week and a break after today’s matchup against Rockmart, they’ve got Troup County on the road to start next week on Tuesday, then host Sandy Creek on Sept. 20. The regular season rounds out on the road at Chapel Hill on Sept. 25.

If the Lady Jackets can win out their final four region contests, it would put them in a good spot to stay in contention for the state playoffs.
