Cedartown volleyball still in region, area play

- Staff reports

The Cedartown Lady Bulldogs volleyball team have been hot in the past few weeks, gaining wins and improving their overall record to above even as the regular season continues on the hardwood.

Since Aug. 25, they’ve put up a 7-5 record in both regular and tournament play and are beginning to look toward a chance at the state playoffs.

Cedartown has thus far racked up a win and a loss over Woodland at a Darlington tournament on Aug. 25, plus a win over the Lady Tigers later that day and a loss to Northwest Whitfield.

They’ve continued to play a little hot and cold since, with a win recorded on Aug. 28 on the road at Temple, then a loss the following day to South Paulding.

On Aug. 30, they picked up a second win over Rockmart, but followed it up with a loss to East Paulding.

As play has continued into September, they’ve won over Central on Sept. 4, but then dropped games to Cartersville the same day.

They put up a pair of wins over Darlington and Rockmart on Sept. 6 as well.

Cedartown still is in the mix as they start to get into region play in earnest this week. After press time on Tuesday, they were traveling to LaGrange to play the Lady Grangers and Sandy Creek, and today host Rome and Paulding County in non-conference play.

They continue play on Thursday with a trio of contestants set to visit Cedartown and they’ll face the Model Lady Blue Devils, Bremen Lady Blue Devils and Pepperell Lady Dragons.

Next week they’re back on the road at Chapel Hill to face the Lady Panthers and the Lady Tigers of Troup County on Sept. 18, and on Sept. 20 head to Model to face the Lady Blue Devils again and Rome. A break gives them time to breathe before wrapping up on Sept. 27 at Pepperell to face the Lady Dragons and Cass, and then they’re scheduled to play Hiram on Oct. 4.

Check back for more updates on the Lady Bulldogs progress as they become available.
