National Junior Honor Society inducts 90 at CMS

Congratula­tions go out to a group of middle school students who have gone above and beyond expectatio­ns and scored high grades, enough to get themselves into a longstandi­ng group of youth who achieve academic success.

The Cedartown Middle School National Junior Honor Society inducted their newest members – some 90 students in total – earlier in the month on Tuesday, February 7.

Advised by Gay Popham and sponsored by Laura Cox and John and Julie Sheffield, the group this year is headed up by middle school officers Ethan McElwee, Edy Lee, Edgar Segura, Jack Roper and Seth Wright.

New inductees to the group include eighth graders Ciara Clark, Reagan Clarke, Landon Mitchell, Alyssa Parham, Aaida Vicente, and Franklin Villagran.

This year’s seventh grade inductees include Nevaeh Blyden, Kameryn Carnes, Luis Cornejo, Elon Cosby, Anahi Cruz-Ambris, Laura Escutia, Lusero Escutia, Aedan Fortenberr­y, Gianna Fuchs, Anthony Hernandez, Kayetlyn King, Jaqueline Lopez, Madison Mathis, Braden Mobbs, Diadira Ordonez-Morales, Iris Ortiz, Andy Ortiz-Perez, Dalia Ramirez, Briceyda RobleroDia­z, Bryan Segura, Daniel Sun, Shadaisa Ware and DJ Whatley.

Sixth graders honored with induction include Georgia Atchley, Lily Atkins, Piper Bailey, Hayvin Barclay, Kayla Barrientos, Maryn Barrow, Ariana Belman, Mary Paige Bentley, Sadie Bentley, Ava Casey, Carley Anne Casey, Ava Christian, Jacquelyn Cortes, Madison Crawford, Kade Dougherty, Jimena Escutia, Faith Evans, Hannah Griffin, Carli Guice, Oscar Guzman, Daisy Hernandez, Johana Hernandez, Caleb Hicks, Destiny Johnson, Mircy Juarez, Lilliana King, Brax Kitchens and Ariana Klemke.

The sixth grade list continued with Makenna Lanham, Joshua Legault, Haley Leon, Orlando Lopez, Sylvia Martinez, Kaylee Matsko, Maddox Minge, Isabella Mobley, Emireth Morillon, Lucas Neal, Jay O’Neal, Denise Ortiz, Emily Ortiz, Dary Perez, Elmer Perez, Sequoia Pollard, Jon Porter, Hannah Pruitt, Hayden Rittenhous­e, Mylashia Robinson, Stephanie Rodriguez, Brayden Ruppert, Ester Sanchez, Patricia Segura, Rhys Smith, Graham Stewart, Christine Tatum, Megan Tracy, Astin Turner, Autumn Turner, DellaKate Wagoner, Tristen Wallace and Alyssa Williams.

The National Junior Honors Society requires that students be in sixth to ninth grades, have a cumulative grade point average of at least 85 (more than 3.0 for those used to the 4 point scale) and also take part in service through volunteeri­ng, leadership, show good character and citizenshi­p toward all.
