Local students earn college honors
Georgia Southern University recently recognized approximately 2,350 students for excellence in academics on the fall 2023 President's List. To be eligible for the President's List, a student must have at least a 4.0 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.
Those named to the school's President's List include Madison Ramirez of Rockmart and Ross Davis of Cedartown.
Georgia Southern University also recognized approximately 3,550 students for excellence in academics on the fall 2023 Dean's List. To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must have at least a 3.5 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.
Those named to the school's Dean's List include Lawson Goodwin of Aragon, Elise Beck of Cedartown, Aspen Blankenship of Aragon, and Mackenzie Maulding of Aragon.
Valdosta State University recognized nearly 1,800 distinguished and accomplished students who exemplified excellence in the attainment of their educational goals and earned a spot on the fall 2023 Dean's List.
The fall 2023 Dean's List at VSU includes the following area residents: Walker Hayes of Rockmart, and
Rachael Self of Cedartown.
To qualify for Dean's List at VSU, students must achieve a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher on nine or more semester hours with an institutional grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
Wallace State Community College in Alabama announced that Laney Nicole Ward of Rockmart earned a place on the Dean's List for the fall 2023 semester. Ward is one of 837 outstanding students named to the President's List and Dean's List for the semester.

The State University of New York at Potsdam recently named Luca Smith of Rockmart to the SUNY Potsdam Dean's List. Smith, whose major is Business Administration, was among 204 students who were honored for academic excellence in the Fall 2023 semester.
To achieve the honor of being on the Dean's List, each student must have satisfactorily completed 12 numerically-graded semester hours, with a grade point average of between 3.25 and 3.49 in the given semester.
