- From staff reports

Team Swarm and Team Wreck ‘Em combined for 751 yards of offense as Swarm edged Wreck ‘Em, 27-24, in Georgia Tech’s White and Gold Game at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field.

Georgia Tech teams posted 751 offensive yards on April 13 at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field during the annual White and Gold spring game.

“It was a good ending of spring,” Head Coach Brent Key said after the game. “I thought we had a good spring for 15 days.”

Team Swarm slipped past Team Wreck ‘Em 27-24 in front of an estimated 12,000 fans, as four Yellow Jacket quarterbacks threw touchdown passes to six different Tech receivers.

“I think over the course of the entire spring we made improvements as a football team,” Key said.

Jamal Haynes got the scoring stared with an 11-yard touchdown rushing touchdown, but the rest of the scoring would come from the air, with sophomore Zach Pyron and true freshman Aaron Philo each completing a pair of passing touchdowns, while juniors Haynes King and Brody Rhodes threw one each.

Pyron led all passers, going 11-for-20 for 194 yards, while King finished 11-for-15 in limited action for the Jackets with 99 yards total.

“It was good to see the young quarterbacks all get in there and be able to get some things done,” Key said.

Wideouts Malik Rutherford, Abdul Janneh, Leo Blackburn, and Zion Taylor each had one touchdown reception, while redshirt freshman Chris Elko managed two touchdowns as part of a 143-yard day on five catches.

Sophomore Kicker Aidan Birr hit an impressive 62-yard field goal.

Graduate transfer Warren Burrell and redshirt freshman Kace Adams each had an interception for the Tech defense, while junior linebacker Jackson Hamilton led all defenders with seven tackles on the day.

“We came out of the game injury-free, which is good,” Key said.

The White and Gold Game wrapped up Georgia Tech’s spring practice season. Next us for the Jackets is their Aug. 24 season opener versus defending Atlantic Coast Conference champion Florida State in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic in Dublin, Ireland.

“We have a long way to go before we kick off in August in Dublin,
