LC puts its camp right on campus

-

Adhering to socialdistancing guidelines set forth by federal and state authorities, Lowell Catholic has reopened its campus for a seven-week summer camp for kids in grades preschool to fourth.

Each week there are themed activities presented, from fine arts to science and more.

“I’m really excited about the activities we’ve planned for each day and each theme” said Jacqueline Hendrickson, a preschool teacher, “We are engaging these kids in STEM, developmental and educational activities that feel like play and are designed to spark their imaginations. For science week, we will be working with them to engineer solar ovens to bake s’mores by sunlight, putting an educational spin on a summercamp tradition.”

The program, which runs daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., is inclusive of students enrolled in the LC Early Childhood 12 Month program and also available for any preschool through fourthgrade students registered at Lowell Catholic for the upcoming school year.

Daily activities consist of outdoor play, water activities, arts and crafts, and more. The students have been successfully practicing social distancing and adhering to guidelines for masks, and will be well prepared to model the appropriate behavior for classmates this fall.

“It has been amazing to welcome new families before the start of the school year and see children form new friendships while families familiarize themselves with our campus and culture.” said Diane Roche, administrative assistant for the elementary school.

There is still time to register. Families who are interested can email droche@lowellcatholic.org for details.
