Lyne Saddlie Joseph of Chelmsford has been named a Specialized Training and Academic Retention, or STAR, Fellow at William James College, a graduate school of psychology.

Selection as a STAR Fellow shows that Joseph has demonstrated a strong commitment to, and advocacy for, increasing mental-health access and support for underserved groups. Through the program, Joseph will engage in culturally focused field training and community service opportunities, mentorship and career counseling services, and social-cultural and professional development activities.

“This opportunity offers a chance to be able to learn more about the mental-health disparities within communities, especially underserved and underrepresented communities,” Joseph said. “With this training and the many opportunities for workshops and volunteer work, I want to continue working with underserved and underrepresented communities after graduation.”
Joseph is pursuing areas of emphasis in both Children and Families of Adversity and Resilience and African and Caribbean Mental Health while at
William James. She completed a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling at Suffolk University, where she also received a Graduate Fellowship and the Mental Health Outstanding Graduate Student Award.
