Groton Public Library hosts events for kids and adults

To help offer some variety to the lives of local residents still stuck in the slump of the coronavirus pandemic, a local library is offering multiple programs this fall.

For children, the Groton Public Library is offering two events running through November. The first is Mirrors & Windows Storytime and Craft, a new collaboration between the library and A Better Community: Social Justice Families community group. For five weeks, the library will be reading a book featuring authors and characters from many racial backgrounds in an effort for kids to create their own “Book About Me” containing crafts representing parts of their own identities. That program is available for kids ages 0 to 8 running every Friday from Oct. 16 to Nov. 20

For kids in grades five through 12, the library will be providing multiple activities to participate in. These include a Creative Writing Club, a Game Club, Minecraft Meetup and Book Worm Masters. All those programs will run through December.

Adults also have multiple programs to choose from this season. Residents can join the Mystery Book Group or the Spanish Conversation Group. People can also join the interactive workshop “Sisters in Crime Present: Mystery Making” on Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. In the event, four mystery authors will work together to create an entirely new mystery.

All events will be held remotely over Zoom. More information on those and future events can be found at gpl.org.
