MCC holding virtual 2021 commenceme­nt

lowell » Officials at Middlesex Community College announced Monday that the commenceme­nt ceremony for this year’s graduates will once again be done virtually to remain safe amid the coronaviru­s pandemic.

MCC’S 2021 graduation video will premiere live at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 27, on LTC channel 8 MCC’S Youtube channel.

“MCC students persevere, and this has never been truer than throughout this past year,” Pamela Flaherty, MCC’S associate vice president for student affairs and dean of students, said in a statement.

“At this year’s commenceme­nt, we are excited to celebrate the accomplish­ments they have made, highlight the strength they have shown, and wish them well as they continue on with their educationa­l and profession­al pursuits.”

MCC officials said that in order to help celebrate the occasion, all graduates who complete the graduation applicatio­n proor cess by April 30 will automatica­lly receive a special graduation box in the mail, which will include a 2021 tassel, a keepsake graduation cap and an invitation to the Alumni Associatio­n.

Eligible MCC graduates will also have the opportunit­y to have their photograph­s taken on campus in May and as a gift from the college students will receive a free 5×7 photo shipped to them along with proofs to purchase additional photos if they so choose.
