Police seize cocaine and $7g in cash in traffic stop
littleton » A 20-year-old New York man without a driver’s license is facing drug trafficking charges after Littleton Police say officers found about 29 grams of cocaine and $7,600 in cash in a Chevrolet Impala he was driving while also texting on his cellphone on Russell Street Monday night.
Brandon Rodriguez, of Ozone Park, Queens, N.Y., was charged with trafficking cocaine, unlicensed operation, marked lanes violation and use of hand-held devices after he was pulled over on Russell Street near Great Road on Monday about 10:10 p.m., according roughly 29 grams of cocaine and $7,600 in cash that littleton police say they found in a car driven by a Queens, n.y., man Monday night.
to a press release from Littleton Police. The press release says Rodriguez was stopped due to “multiple motor vehicle violations” — including “texting behind the wheel and operating erratically.”
A subsequent search of Rodriguez’s car by Officer Brian Casey and Sgt. Edmund Bussiere, with assistance from Littleton K-9 Vojak, turned up the cocaine and cash, according to a press release.
“This is a great example of how an observant officer can make a traffic stop that leads to taking dangerous drugs off the streets,” Littleton Police Chief Matthew Pinard said in a press release.
Rodriguez was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Ayer District Court, but the results of that proceeding were not immediately available.
