Torre, who is vice chair of the School Committee, hopes to become the second woman on the board alongside Selectwoman Kim Conway. She has already been endorsed by Selectman Dan Burns. She said one of the primary reasons she decided to run is the issue of high-density housing in Billerica — otherwise known as Planned Urban Development, or PUD — saying she aims to be a voice for smarter growth in town and to push for more affordable housing for seniors and veterans.

The only other contested race will be for Planning Board, with Incumbent Christopher Tribou facing off against Marlies Henderson, John Meneghini and William Bulens for two open seats. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Parker School for Precincts 1 and 7, at the Hajjar School for Precincts 2 and 8, at the Ditson School for Precincts 3 and 9, at the Marshall Middle School for Precinct 4, at the Kennedy School for Precincts 5 and 10 and at the Dutile School for Precincts 6 and 11.

In Tewksbury, residents will be able to vote for either incumbent Mark Kratman, Town Moderator Todd Johnson, James Mackey III, or George Ferdinand to fill two open seats on the Board of Selectmen.

While Kratman looks to retain his seat for a third consecutive term, Selectman Brian Dick is not seeking re-election after serving just one term.

Of the four candidates, Mackey III, a veteran and fourth generation resident, is the only one that has not run for public office before. In addition to serving as moderator, Johnson served on the Board of Selectmen for 12 years, including as chairman, and Ferdinand served on the Board of Health for three years.

The only other contested race on this year’s ballot will be for School Committee, with incumbent James Cutelis facing off against Bridget Garabedian, Nicholas Parsons, and Deborah Wall for two open seats. Committee member Scott Wilson is not seeking re-election.

The election will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Senior Center for Precincts 1 and 1A, at the Recreation Center for Precincts 2 and 2A, at Town Hall for Precincts 3 and 3A and at the library for Precincts 4 and 4A.
