Would get tax windfall in proposed infrastructure bill

-

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi continues to claim the super rich do not pay their fair share of taxes.

Pelosi’s continual mantra is that the super rich don’t pay their fair share of income taxes. Right!

However, her mega trillions spending bill contains a huge windfall for the super rich. Under current tax law signed by former President Donald

Trump, the state and local tax (SALT) deduction was limited to $10,000. (Why should high state tax states benefit at the expense of low state tax states?) This limitation only affected the super rich, yet her mega spending bill removes this deduction limitation.

As an example, a million-dollar income taxpayer could now deduct the full state income deduction of $50,000 (assume a 5% state income tax and not considering sales and real estate taxes), instead of being limited to the $10,000 maximum SALT deduction under current law. At a U.S. tax rate of 25% that is a $10,000 benefit to the super rich..

Wonder why the U.S. Congress has such a low approval rate.

awmakers should approve Choose Home Care Act

A recent poll found that 94% of Medicare beneficiaries would prefer to receive posthospital short-term health care at home, and 85% of adults say it should be a high priority for the federal government to expand Medicare coverage for home health care.

Fortunately, bipartisan lawmakers in both the U.S. House and U.S. Senate are taking action to help meet the growing demand for home-based care options.

The Choose Home Care Act would establish an additional patient-centered home health option called Choose Home to help meet seniors’ comprehensive care needs.

Choose Home would offer extended care services in the comfort, safety, and convenience of a patient’s home after hospitalization versus a skilled nursing facility, following a physician’s recommendation. It would also provide support, training and education for family caregivers.

As support grows among the public for this new program, I urge our states’ lawmakers in Congress to support the Choose Home Care Act.
