Take 15 to release emotions

- Bonnie Page Ask the Psychic — Sherill

DEAR BONNIE » Do you have any tips or rituals that you do to keep your energy up and running higher than lower during this time of isolation? I am having a tough time remaining happy and focused, and I could use any tips or advice that you could offer.

DEAR SHERILL » We all are going through this pandemic together, and are dealing with the isolation or the fear of these times in different ways. It is hard to stay happy and focused when our lives have been changed in so many ways. In the beginning, I would watch the news quite a bit because I thought I needed to know everything, and then it became apparent to me that watching for hours might not be so great for my mental or psychical health. Now I stay informed but limit the time in front of the TV.

For the first couple of weeks, I allowed myself some downtime, but then it became apparent that I needed to set some goals for myself and find a way to honor what I was going through.

The feelings of being in isolation were making me feel sad. Sad was the first emotion that I needed to deal with, not seeing my family or friends, or even going to work, was becoming difficult. Social distancing that has been required of all of us has left us all feeling alone and sad at times.

I started walking on my treadmill, which did help as that is moving your body, and when you are moving your body, you are running the energy centers that are within you these energy centers are called chakras. Then I remembered an exercise that I had been taught as how to deal with depression and sadness. This exercise is about releasing and letting go, but just for a specific period, like 15 minutes.

Give yourself 15 minutes to feel all the feelings that are pent up inside of you. This exercise was taught to me in one of my first metaphysical classes that I attended years ago, and I have used it many times. Look at a clock so you know when to stop because at the end of 15 minutes you need to say to yourself: “OK, I have mourned the feelings that were making me sad or unhappy now; it is time to let go of them.” You know you have 15 minutes to cry, punch a pillow, listen to a sad song that helps your emotions flow out of you, 15 minutes of removing the energy that has built up that is stopping you from feeling your best.

When the 15 minutes are up, you say to yourself “OK, I have released the energy that is holding me back, and now it’s time to move on and feel renewed.”

When I was a little girl, my mom, who also had this gift of mediumship, could see when my energy needed renewing and releasing, and she would send me outside in the backyard and she told me to scream. Then when I went back inside, she would say: “Don’t you feel better?” I always did.

Try this exercise and keep moving your body with walking or dancing whatever it is that will keep your body in movement. This is a time of reflection for us, the time when we need to look at the bigger picture and what we envision for ourselves and our lives. I hope this exercise helps you in some way. Release and let go of what you no longer need to hold onto and bring in new feelings of hope to refocus ourselves on what is truly important to us.
