Billerica PD receives donation for ‘Trouble the Dog’

billerica » Police officers responding to incidents involving young children will now have an extra tool to help, thanks to a donation from the Kennek Foundation.

The foundation’s founder and children’s author Sheila Duncan, along with members of the Merrimack Valley Harley Owners Group, donated a dozen custommade “Trouble the Dog” stuffed animals to the police department this week. The toys are meant to bring some comfort to a child during the often chaotic period of time when first responders are working to stabilize a scene.

Trouble the Dog is a character in the children’s book “Where There’s Trouble, There’s Hope,” which is given to the child involved along with the toy as a keepsake.

A Merrimack Valley HOG fundraising ride in September raised money for the donation.
